Aurora Borealis

Yesterday while I was working my brother reached out to tell me the northern lights would be visible because of a solar storm. For context, when I was around 13 and my brother around 12, our parents got us out of bed to come outside and see the northern lights. It was truly one of the most magical experiences of our young lives. The colors were so beautiful and vivid and it was like nothing we’d ever seen before.

Fast forward to now, last year my brother, Isaac, and I all headed north to try to get another peek at the northern lights. That night we could just barely see them.

Last night, we had another chance. It was the strongest solar storm since the one my brother and I had seen when we were kids. Needless to say, I packed up the family and we drove up north with uncle Ben to see what we could see.

It was definitely more visible than the time we’d gone last year, but the colors weren’t as vivid as what we’d remembered from our childhoods. Either way, it was still a fun experience. Here are a few photos I was able to snag with my phone.
